Katy Lucas

Current studio work revolves around contemporary painting and drawing within an expanded context, focusing on landscape. Work is continuously informed by an exchange with features that provide access to the interior of landscapes, such as caves. This exchange is handled through three distinct methods that link, combine, and expand the subject through the selected medium. Surface, materiality, palimpsest, and layering are explored via a haptic-heavy approach.
